Meeting Previews

  • Prior to each Regular Board Meeting, the Board of Trustees President and Superintendent will preview with the community what can be expected from the agenda.

Below is the preview for the most recent meeting:

  • Preview: Thursday, March 28

Keller ISD’s Board of Trustees will hold its monthly Regular Meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 28, in the KISD Education Center Boardroom (Rock Gym).

We are excited to start the meeting highlighting student and staff achievements, including the recognition of some spectacular state-level athletic achievements and our monthly staff awards. We’ll also honor our first-ever recipients of the FACE Award – a new honor highlighting outstanding achievement among our operations employees.

The Board of Trustees will go into executive session following the awards, after which we’ll present the Board President and Superintendent updates, and then hear from our community during Audience with Individuals.

There are two reports on Thursday night’s agenda, beginning with an update on student academic progress. We’re excited to learn about how well our students are reaching their learning goals and demonstrating academic growth.  In our second report, we’ll hear more details about the transition of the Keller Collegiate Academy, moving from its own building to the Keller Center for Advanced Learning next year. We believe our community will be excited about the opportunities this move presents and we look forward to highlighting how much thought and care has been put into the planning process.

Thursday’s action items for the Board to consider include the adoption of new science curriculum materials. This is the culmination of a nearly yearlong process for our Curriculum and Instruction team as they’ve established criteria for these materials and narrowed down vendors, collecting significant community and staff feedback along the way.

As always, the meeting will be streamed live on Keller ISD’s YouTube Channel, and we encourage our community to continue to stay engaged as we work together as one for the success of all.

    Preview: Thursday, January 25

Keller ISD’s Board of Trustees is set to hold its monthly Regular Meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday, January 25.

We are excited to begin our meeting by celebrating a number of employee achievements, including recognizing our amazing campus cafeteria managers who work hard with their staffs to keep our students energized and ready to learn.

We have several reports on the agenda, including updates from our Special Education and Counseling departments. We also get to hear from two amazing community partners – Jarrett Armstrong with the Keller Lions Club, who will share how his organization supports our students and campuses; and Matthew Hall with Raise Your Hand Texas, who will provide an update on the latest legislative news coming out of Austin.

As has been shared, Keller ISD is facing a $27 million budget deficit due to the Texas Legislature’s failure to support public education. The state had a surplus of more than $30 billion and chose not to spend a single penny addressing inflationary costs, school safety, or special education.

District leaders have been working tirelessly to develop a plan to address this deficit and balance the budget so that Keller ISD remains a destination of excellence.

On Thursday, administrators will be sharing the results of that work, which is guided by our commitment to:

    • Ensuring Excellent Opportunities for Student Academic Success
    • Providing and Maintaining Student Programming
    • Supporting KISD’s Amazing Educators
    • Ensuring the Safety and Security of KISD Campuses for All KISD Students
    • Protecting the Interests of Taxpayers by Passing a Balanced Budget
    • Using this Historic Budget Crisis as an Opportunity for Innovation

The meeting will also see the Board take action on:

    1. an employment recommendation for Timber Creek High School’s next principal,
    2. agreements with several universities to provide students opportunities to earn college credit, real-world work experience, and industry certifications, and
    3. an agreement with the Texas Commission to provide critical training for our Security Operations Staff.

The meeting will be streamed live on Keller ISD’s YouTube Channel, and we encourage you to tune in and stay engaged as we work together as one for the success of all.
