KHS, TCHS Softball Teams Advance to Regional Quarterfinals

The varsity softball teams from Keller High and Timber Creek High are both continuing their 2024 UIL Class 6A Playoff runs and will face familiar foes in the Regional Quarterfinals.

District 4-6A Champion Keller High swept El Paso Eastwood in their Area Round match-up. After winning the first game in the series 1-0 on May 2, the Indians had to overcome a uniquely challenging situation ahead of Game 2 on May 3 when they discovered that much of their equipment had been stolen off of their bus. Thanks to an influx of donations from across the state, Keller was able to get the equipment they needed to play the game. After then having to wait through a rain delay, the Indians ended up defeating Eastwood 4-2 to clinch the series. Police later found the team's gear discarded along the side of a highway.

Next up for KHS will be V.R. Eaton High, fourth-place finishers in District 4-6A. The Indians defeated the Eagles in both of the teams' regular season contests, winning 4-1 at home and 6-2 at Eaton. The Regional Quarterfinals series between the teams will be a home-and-home series, opening at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 9 at Eaton (1350 Eagle Blvd. in Haslet). Game 2 will be 7 p.m. Friday, May 10, at KHS. If a third game is necessary, it will be played at 12 p.m. Saturday, May 11, back at Eaton. Tickets for each game will be $3 for students and $5 for adults. Tickets for the games at Eaton can be purchased at the gate with cash. Click here to purchase tickets for Game 2 at Keller High

Timber Creek also won its Area Round series over Wolfforth Frenship. The Falcons won 2-1 in the opening game on May 3, but dropped Game 2 4-2 the morning of May 4. With the third and deciding game played shortly after, TCHS bounced back with a resounding 10-4 victory to advance.

Awaiting the Falcons in the Regional Quarterfinals will be 6-4A Runner-Up Southlake Carroll. The Dragons swept the regular season series over TCHS, winning 9-2 and 11-1. The Falcons will now get another shot at Carroll with an opportunity to advance to the Regional Semifinals on the line. Game 1 of the series will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 8; Game 2 will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 9; and, if necessary, Game 3 would be played at 6 p.m. Friday, May 10. All games will be played at Byron Nelson High School (2775 Bobcat Blvd. in Trophy Club). Tickets for each game will be $3 for students and $5 for adults. There will be no online ticket sales; all tickets can be purchased at the gate, and only cash will be accepted.

Congratulations to both KHS and TCHS on advancing to the Regional Quarterfinals, and best of luck as they look to continue their playoff runs!
