Three KISD Athletes Qualify for State Track & Field Meet

Keller ISD had three student-athletes from three different high schools qualify for this year's UIL Class 6A State Track and Field Championships.

Fossil Ridge High senior NyKaela Mays earned her spot at State as Regional Champion in the girls high jump. The Panthers stand-out cleared 5-feet, 8-inches to win the gold at Regionals. At State, she finished fifth in all of Class 6A, posting a best jump of 5-4.00.

Meanwhile, Central High senior Melissa Tagorda punched her ticket to State by finishing as Regional Runner-Up in the girls pole vault. Tagorda's top vault of 11-6 earned her the silver medal and a chance to represent the Chargers in Austin. Tagorda fell just short of matching that Regionals performance at State, topping out at 11-0, which placed her eighth place in the state.

Timber Creek High sophomore LaShonda Reeves is also headed to State in the 400-meter run. The Falcon finished third at Regionals, but her time of 55.75 seconds was the fastest among all the other Regional third-place finishers, earning her the wild card position at the State Meet. There, she took eighth place with a time of 56.34.

Congratulations to NyKaela, Melissa, and LaShonda on advancing to State and representing Keller ISD so well!
