Keller ISD Names John Allison as Interim Superintendent

The Keller ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to name John Allison, current Associate Superintendent of Education, as Interim Superintendent of Schools at a special called meeting of the School Board on June 28.

Allison will lead the district as the Board searches for a permanent replacement for Dr. Rick Westfall, who is retiring after 31 years in Texas public education and six years asPortrait of John Allison Superintendent of KISD. Dr. Westfall’s last day acting as Superintendent in the district will be June 30, 2023. He will remain an employee of the school district until December 31, 2023, to assist with the transition of leadership.

“We are confident in and grateful for Mr. Allison’s leadership during this transitional period,” Board President Dr. Charles Randklev said. “He brings the proven experience needed to guide the district through the coming months to ensure that we continue to move forward in the service of our students, staff and community.”

Allison has dedicated his life to public education, serving in a multitude of roles including classroom teacher, campus administrator, associate and deputy superintendent, and a superintendent of multiple districts, including Mt. Lebanon School District in Pennsylvania, Wichita Public Schools, and Olathe Public Schools in Olathe, Kansas. As the Associate Superintendent of Education in Keller ISD, he oversees and leads the entirety of Keller ISD’s educational support systems.

“I am honored to be selected for this opportunity and appreciate the Board’s confidence in me,” Allison said. “I look forward to working with our families and staff during this time of change.”

He will assume the role of Interim Superintendent on July 1, 2023.
