    September 11 - 15, 2023

Deadline is Friday, September 15 at 4pm

The Save Form will be live this morning (Monday 9/11/23 at 8am) at the following URL:

    SAVE Form

You may share the link with any student who has requested a SAVE.

It will also be posted on the KHS Counseling front page and available as a QR outside our office.

    What is a SAVE?

    • A SAVE is the process for a student to request to move from an Honors or AP class to the regular level of that class
    • A student requesting a SAVE must fill out the SAVE Form available as a QR in the Counseling Center or on our KHS Counseling main webpage(see the link above)
    • A student cannot request a SAVE for a non-Honors/AP course or for a course that is Honors or AP and does not have a regular level (e.g., AP Chemistry)
    • Everyone thinks SAVE is an acronym, and maybe at one time it was, but no one ever told me what it stands for, so we just continue capitalizing it.
    • The point of a SAVE is to SAVE the schedule – in other words, keep students IN the Honors or AP course
    • The goal is to keep appropriately placed students in the Honors or AP course

How does a student request a SAVE?

    • A student may request a SAVE between Monday Sept. 11th and Fri. September 15th
    • The student must completely fill out a SAVE Form and turn it in by the deadline on Fri. September 15th by 4:00pm. NO EXCEPTIONS.
    • The student, parent, and teacher must fill out the SAVE form (digitally sent to each party)
    • It is the student’s responsibility to initiate the SAVE process.

What determines if a student is moved to the regular level?

    • A student MUST have: turned in all assignments, attended tutorials (at least one a week), and retested when needed.
    • We will review each situation – sometimes students have overloaded themselves and need to be moved to the regular level of one class. In this situation, we will discuss this with you as it may result in a move without a meeting.
    • The student/parent must make contact with the teacher and the teacher must fill out the digital SAVE form for teacher feedback.

Students new to KHS also may be moved without a meeting, but we will discuss this with you as well.
