Weather Updates

3 p.m. 1/29/26

Classes will resume Friday, January 30. With increased temperatures today and additional sunshine, much of the snow and ice on roads in the region have cleared and Keller ISD’s facilities team has been working to clear walkways at campuses to ensure safe entry for students and staff.

Please note, however, that the National Weather Service is still forecasting below freezing temperatures overnight and into Friday morning. Please plan accordingly and allow for extra travel time to school as road conditions may vary across the district and ice may persist in more shaded areas of schools. Campuses will practice leniency when it comes to morning tardies as we prioritize the safety of students and families.

Friday will be an “Odd Day” schedule for KISD high schools and a “B Day” for intermediate schools.

Thank you for your patience and understanding this week as we all work together to keep students safe.

5 p.m. 1/28/26

Keller ISD will remain closed on Thursday, January 29, due to icy conditions on school property and road conditions in surrounding areas.

Wednesday’s sunshine and higher temperatures have allowed for some melting and clearing of many of the main roads throughout the community; however, neighborhood roads, parking lots, and school driveways have still failed to clear up. A few examples of campus conditions from this afternoon have been posted below. Additionally, we are expecting continued hazardous road conditions in outlying areas that may make it challenging for many employees to safely travel to campuses.

Considering these factors, potential for re-freezing, and a general concern about the ability to get students in and out of campuses safely, Keller ISD leadership has made the decision to remain closed out of an abundance of caution.

KISD leadership will continue to monitor road conditions and weather forecasts, and we encourage families continue to check ParentSquare, Keller ISD’s social media accounts, and www.KellerISD.net/Weather for any future updates.

Keller ISD schools and administrative offices will remain closed Wednesday, January 28, out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our students and staff.

While our area experienced an increase in temperatures today, road conditions, especially on neighborhood streets, have not shown significant improvement due to the amount of ice accumulation. Keller ISD’s Emergency Operations Team has been driving throughout the community today to assess road conditions, and travel remains hazardous. With temperatures expected to return below freezing this evening and through Wednesday morning, concerns remain about road improvement and the district’s ability to clear ice in parking lots and school driveways. With those factors in mind, the district is prioritizing the safety of students, families, and staff by cancelling Wednesday classes.

The instructional minutes missed due to this third inclement weather day are still accounted for in the 2025-26 Instructional Calendar, so these days missed will not need to be made up.

KISD leadership will continue to monitor road conditions and weather forecasts with the hope of resuming school on Thursday, January 29. Please be sure to check ParentSquare, Keller ISD’s social media accounts, and www.KellerISD.net/Weather for any future updates.

3 p.m. 1/25/26

Keller ISD schools and administrative offices will be closed once again on Tuesday, January 27, due to hazardous road conditions resulting from this weekend’s winter weather and continued extreme cold temperatures.

The National Weather Service has forecasted that extreme cold temperatures will remain in our area through Tuesday morning, preventing any significant improvement to current road conditions and making it unsafe for students who walk or bike to school. While conditions look to begin improving around midday Tuesday, district administrators have decided that it is in the best interest of the safety of all students, families, and staff to remain closed that day.

Capacity remains in Keller ISD’s 2025-26 Instructional Calendar to absorb this additional missed school day, so neither Monday nor Tuesday will need to be made up.

At this time, we are hopeful that conditions will improve to allow for school to resume Wednesday, January 28, but please stay weather aware and keep an eye on ParentSquare, KISD’s social media accounts, and www.KellerISD.net/Weather for any future updates.

4 p.m. 1/23/26

Keller ISD schools and administrative offices will be closed Monday, January 26, due to forecasted inclement winter weather conditions.

The National Weather Service has placed our area under a Winter Storm Warning from 6 p.m. Friday evening through noon Sunday. NWS forecasts that temperatures will remain below freezing throughout Monday with little opportunity for ice accumulation on roads and walkways to melt or evaporate, leading to dangerous travel conditions. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our families and employees, Keller ISD will not hold school that day, and all school activities will be canceled. Any weekend activities have also been canceled, as KISD buildings will be closed Saturday and Sunday.

Capacity for the missed instructional day due to inclement weather is built into the minutes of Keller ISD’s 2025-26 Instructional Calendar, so Monday's missed day will not need to be made up.

At this time, no decisions have been made about Tuesday, January 27, though district administrators will continue to monitor forecasts from the NWS throughout the weekend. Decisions about any further changes to KISD’s schedule will be based on those projections and the conditions within the KISD community.

For future updates, please continue to check ParentSquare, Keller ISD’s official social media accounts, or visit www.KellerISD.net/Weather.

8:30 a.m. 1/22/26

Keller ISD Fine Arts has announced that the Kelley Awards planned for Friday evening have been postponed and rescheduled for Friday, February 20. Additionally, this weekend's Region 30 Orchestra competition at Keller High School and middle school one-act play competition at Fossil Ridge High School have been canceled

2:55 p.m. 1/21/26

Keller ISD’s Emergency Operations Team is closely monitoring weather conditions and forecasts for later this week. Current forecasts call for precipitation Friday with temperatures dropping below freezing in the late afternoon and evening. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing through Monday.

Any decision about altering our school schedules due to weather conditions will be made after considering the conditions of roads and sidewalks throughout the district and surrounding areas, building conditions, and forecasts from the National Weather Service.

Out of an abundance of caution, athletic competitions scheduled for Friday evening have been rescheduled for Thursday. Decisions about other specific activities will be made later in the week.

Updates will be posted to this page throughout the weather event. Notifications will also be shared with families and employees through ParentSquare and distributed through email, text, or mobile alert, depending on the user’s notification preferences. Additionally, families will receive an automated phone call of any changes to the school schedule. Updates will be posted to Keller ISD’s official social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram), as well.

We encourage everyone to remain weather-aware over the next several days.
