FRHS Varsity Co-Ed Cheer Team Crowned UCA National Champions
Fossil Ridge High School Varsity Co-Ed Cheer is the reigning Universal Cheer Association (UCA) Large Co-Ed National Champion. Central High School impressively earned fifth place overall in the Small Varsity Co-Ed division.
At the UCA National Championship competition on Feb.10-12 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, cheer teams from across the U.S. competed to claim the national championship title. Winning the championship title with a score of 95.6, the Fossil Ridge Varsity Co-Ed cheer team beat out teams from Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, and California.
"This is our first time to win Nationals for our Varsity team." Head coach Victoria Butler stated. "We were so excited to beat the back-to-back champs in this division."
Fossil Ridge High School had a record-breaking season, with their Varsity team remaining undefeated, earning their fourth consecutive state title, and finally claiming the National Champions trophy. Overall, it was a successful season throughout their program, with the JV team earning consecutive Game Date National titles.
Central High School's Small Varsity Co-Ed team competed against 40 teams and ultimately finished in fifth place with a score of 92.6. This is the second time for Central to compete at Nationals – in 2020, they placed 6th.
"I'm very proud of these athletes and all of their determination and effort!" Head Coach Dorthy Loftin said.
