Strings Academy Registration
Description
Keller ISD's Strings Academy is back for the 2017-18 school year and is expanding with several new faces and new opportunities.
Two new directors will oversee this year's academy – Adam Pratt, Director of Orchestras at Keller High School, and Terence Lee, Director of Orchestras at Vista Ridge Middle School.
The structure of the classes has also changed this year with four orchestras:
- Chamber Orchestra (No experience; beginning strings instruction; fourth grade and up)
- Concert Orchestra (One or more years of experience; fourth grade and up)
- Philharmonic Orchestra (Intermediate orchestra with one or more years of experience; fourth grade and up)
- Symphony Orchestra (Advanced Orchestra with one or more years of experience; fourth grade and up)
Chamber and Concert orchestras do not require an audition and are designed for students with little or no previous experience. The Philharmonic and Symphony orchestras do require an audition (to be heard on Registration Day) and are intended for students who wish to perform at a higher level.
For the first time ever, the Keller ISD Strings Academy will offer a low strings class as part of the Chamber and Concert orchestras for those students looking to learn either cello or bass. Be sure to check the class schedule to choose a class and time that is best for your student.
Registration day will be from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, September 9, in the Keller High School Orchestra Hall. For those that cannot attend, a make-up registration will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 11, in the Keller High School Orchestra Hall.
