Safety & Security
It is the mission of the Keller Independent Safety & Security Department to protect individual rights, maintain order, and prevent crimes against people and property while observing the highest ethical standards.

In doing so, the department strives to reflect the District mission by providing a safe environment that allows for exceptional educational opportunities which are conducive to student success, earn the confidence of the public, and forge ongoing partnerships through our communities to support a safer learning environment.
Keller ISD currently has 18 security specialists including four mobile response officers responsible for patrolling areas in and around our campuses. They are all charged with responding to any campus that may need immediate assistance. Our security officers maintain a level three security license keeping them in compliance with state minimum standards.
The District also has 17 School Resource Officers (SROs). Their primary responsibility is law enforcement. Further, all five of our surrounding police agencies are required to make frequent and irregular visits to all of our campuses.
Additionally, Keller ISD has up to 28 armed officers at our elementaries.
Contracted K-9 services are also part of our security staff. Their presence creates the expectation of a safe and drug-free environment through campus canine visits. They also provide a fully trained certified bomb dog to which the District has access 24/7.
