Dr. Cory Wilson Named Keller ISD Lone Superintendent Finalist

Keller ISD is excited to announce that the KISD Board of Trustees has named Dr. Cory Wilson as the District’s lone finalist for Superintendent.

Dr. Wilson has served as KISD’s Interim Superintendent since February and has been a part of Keller ISD for more than two decades, most recently serving as the Assistant Superintendent of Education Services.

At a Special Meeting on Thursday, June 5, the Board of Trustees voted 5-0 to name Dr. Wilson the lone finalist. A state-mandated 21-day waiting period now follows before Dr. Wilson can be officially hired to the position. At that time, the Board is expected to call another Special Meeting to officially take action on naming Dr. Wilson the Superintendent.

Keller ISD Board of Trustees President John Birt shared the following about Dr. Wilson’s selection: “The Board has been pleased with Dr. Wilson's performance during his time as Interim Superintendent and we are excited for the future of Keller ISD under his leadership.”

Dr. Wilson has 27 years of experience in education, the past 23 years of which have been in Keller ISD. In 2002, he began teaching fifth-grade math and science at Parkwood Hill Intermediate School. He moved into administration in 2004 as the first assistant principal at Bette Perot Elementary School. He later served as principal at BPES, before opening Ridgeview Elementary School as its principal in 2011. In 2013, he joined KISD’s district administration as an Executive Director of Leadership, serving the District’s Title I and Bilingual campuses. He later served as Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools (West) and as an Area Superintendent before becoming Assistant Superintendent of Education Services.

"It’s an honor to be named lone finalist,” Dr. Wilson said. “I love KISD. This is my home, this is my family’s home, and I look forward to serving the Keller ISD community.”

He holds a Bachelor of Education from Kansas State University, a Master of Education Leadership and Policy Study from The University of Texas at Arlington, and Doctor of Education from Texas Christian University.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Cory Wilson on being named the lone finalist for KISD Superintendent.
