Melissa Finstad Named New FRES Principal

Keller ISD is excited to announce that Melissa Finstad has been named the new Principal at Freedom Elementary School. 

Finstad is currently serving as the Principal at Whitley Road Elementary, where she has been since 2021. She previously served as an Assistant Principal at FRES and as an Assistant Principal at Trinity Meadows Intermediate School. In all, she has 19 years of experience in Keller ISD, having also taught at Bluebonnet Elementary School. 

"This return feels like coming home, as Freedom is where I first stepped into campus leadership and began my journey as an administrator," Finstad said. "I am truly honored to lead a school that holds such a special place in my heart."

She earned her Bachelor of Science from Texas Wesleyan University and a Master of Education in Education Administration from Texas Christian University. 

Finstad will finish the school year at WRES before taking over at FRES this summer. Retired Keller ISD administrator David Rische has been serving as Interim Principal at the school this semester.
