Keller ISD is thrilled to honor Friendship Elementary School PE teacher Lisa Cutting as the next Keller ISD Star Educator Award Winner.

Cutting was presented with the Keller ISD Star Educator Award at the October 24 Board Meeting. She was nominated by FSES Principal Casey Necessary for her "dedication to planning engaging and creative lessons that truly make a difference for our students... from innovative games to skill-building activities, she always finds a way to keep the kids moving and having fun."

Cutting will also receive a $500 grant, courtesy of the M.R. and Evelyn Hudson Foundation, to use in her classroom.

The Keller ISD Star Educator Award is a brand new district-wide teacher recognition, replacing the Innovative Teachers Inspiring Students (or, IT'S) Award, which, for over a decade, recognized some of KISD's most inspirational teachers for their efforts in actively engaging students through innovative learning techniques.

In continuing with the tradition of recognizing excellence, this new initiative will highlight amazing educators in this district who demonstrate exceptional teaching skills and positively impact their classrooms by:

  • Seeking active student engagement
  • Communicating with enthusiasm
  • Supporting individual growth
  • Offering innovative instructional techniques
  • Promoting a strong classroom community
  • Leading with heart
