KISD Teachers Earn Record Number of ESL Certifications

So far this school year, a remarkable 42 Keller ISD teachers have earned their ESL Certification, joining the 1,148 other KISD teachers who have showcased both their dedication to students and their commitment to professional growth. This certification strengthens teachers’ ability to support English learners, equipping them to meet the diverse needs of their students and provide high-quality instruction.

Earning the credential is no small feat – it requires hours of preparation through online courses, live trainings, and in-depth study guides, followed by a challenging state exam. This accomplishment not only positions teachers ahead of the district’s mandate for all educators to be ESL-certified by next year but also ensures stronger support for multilingual learners across the district.

"This is the highest number of ESL certifications we’ve processed this early in the school year, which is a tremendous step forward for our district," said EL Instructional Facilitator Crystal Herrera. "Thanks to the commitment of our teachers, we’re making sure our multilingual learners have the certified support they need."
