KISD Librarian Honored as First Star Educator Award Recipient for 2025-26

Nancy Parris, a Librarian at both Park Glen Elementary and Lone Star Elementary, was honored with the Keller ISD Star Educator Award at the September 24 Board Meeting. She was nominated by PGES Principal Tammy DeLeon, who shared how Mrs. Parris has transformed her libraries into spaces that are “vibrant, inclusive, and alive with curiosity.”

From redesigning bookshelves so books are easier for students to discover, to creating lessons that extend classroom learning and spark deeper understanding, Mrs. Parris has reimagined the library experience. Every visit to her library is an invitation for students to explore, wonder, and grow.

As the first recipient of this year’s award, Mrs. Parris will also receive $500 to invest in her libraries – a well-deserved opportunity to continue fueling her students’ love of reading and learning.

The Keller ISD Star Educator Award shines a light on extraordinary educators who inspire curiosity, nurture growth, and make lasting impacts on their students. These are teachers and leaders who engage with energy, build community, and lead with heart – and Mrs. Parris embodies all of that and more.
