KISD Honors TMIS 5th Grade Teacher with Star Educator Award
Keller ISD is excited to honor Kristie Jones, a fifth-grade Science and Social Studies teacher at Trinity Meadows Intermediate School, as the next Keller ISD Star Educator Award winner.
Jones was presented with the Keller ISD Star Educator Award at the November 21 Board Meeting. She was nominated by Carolyn Dougherty, a math teacher at Trinity Springs Middle School, who said: “Kristie leads with heart and a bit of craziness. She promotes a spirit of family and fun on the TMI campus. Not only can she be seen dressed as a Unicorn, she also creatively communicates with families both for her classes and campus-wide, prepares hands-on labs and activities to reinforce the science concepts, and she consistently promotes and encourages individual student growth.”
Jones will also receive a $500 grant, courtesy of the M.R. and Evelyn Hudson Foundation, to use in her classroom.
The Keller ISD Star Educator Award is a brand new district-wide teacher recognition, replacing the Innovative Teachers Inspiring Students (or, IT'S) Award, which, for over a decade, recognized some of KISD's most inspirational teachers for their efforts in actively engaging students through innovative learning techniques.
In continuing with the tradition of recognizing excellence, this new initiative will highlight amazing educators in this district who demonstrate exceptional teaching skills and positively impact their classrooms by:
- Seeking active student engagement
- Communicating with enthusiasm
- Supporting individual growth
- Offering innovative instructional techniques
- Promoting a strong classroom community
- Leading with heart
