KHS Spanish Teacher Named KISD Star Educator

Keller ISD is thrilled to celebrate Keller High School Spanish teacher Misty Swan as the latest recipient of the Keller ISD Star Educator Award, honored during the February 25 Board Meeting.

Ms. Swan – or "Cisne" as her students call her – is known for creating a warm, family-like classroom environment where strong student connections begin on day one. An innovative teacher, she frequently takes learning beyond the traditional classroom setting – whether that means reading outdoors, using window markers and chalk for lessons, visiting the student art gallery for discussions, or walking to a nearby park to explore nature.

Her classroom is lively and conversation-filled, with students actively engaged and communicating in the target language. Ms. Swan thoughtfully designs lessons around her students’ interests and experiences, ensuring learning is not just content-driven but meaningful and memorable. Outside the classroom, she is one of her students’ biggest supporters, regularly attending their extracurricular events and performances. Her dedication, creativity, and genuine care for her students truly set her apart.

As part of this honor, she will also receive $500 to invest in additional learning tools for her classroom.

The Keller ISD Star Educator Award celebrates extraordinary educators who inspire curiosity, nurture growth, and make lasting impacts on their students. Ms. Swan embodies the spirit of this award – bringing learning to life through innovation, connection, and unwavering support for her students both inside and outside the classroom.
