Keller ISD Earns Prestigious TxETA Award of Distinction

Keller ISD is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Texas Educational Theatre Association’s (TxETA) Award of Distinction with Exemplary District Status – an honor reserved for districts making exceptional contributions to advancing theatre education in Texas.

A blue banner with gold fringe displays an "Award of Distinction" for the 2026-2027 school year, recognizing Keller Independent School District as an exemplary district by the Texas Educational Theatre Association.

The Award of Distinction, at the Exemplary District level, celebrates districts that raise the standards for theatre education through achievement, curation of resources, diversity, and advocacy for the arts, and more specifically, reflects Keller ISD’s outstanding commitment to fostering theatre education and participation in their communities.

To earn this honor, TxETA evaluates districts based on a variety of factors, including:

  • Quality and quantity of theatrical productions
  • A robust play library and access to performance spaces
  • Strong community and administrative support
  • Student participation in UIL theatre contests
  • Participation in Theatrical Design competitions
  • Integration of theatre technology into learning

“We applaud Keller ISD for their remarkable efforts in promoting theatre arts. Their program serves as a model of creativity, community, and educational excellence,” said Travis Springfield, Past President of the Texas Educational Theatre Association.

Keller ISD is among an elite group of Texas districts who have earned this honor, which is a testament to the dedication of theatre educators, students, and supporters who ensure that the performing arts remain a vital and thriving part of school culture.

TxETA aims to support, promote, and expand educational theatre at all levels by providing educational opportunities, building a network of resources and support, and creating a forum for establishing standards, programs, and projects to celebrate the importance of theatre.

A formal presentation will take place during the TxETA TheatreFest Awards Ceremony on October 2 in Galveston, Texas. For more information, visit www.txeta.com.
