ISMS, TSMS Spellers Advance to Regionals

ISMS, TSMS Spellers Advance to Regionals
After 34 rounds with 31 competitors, Indian Springs Middle School seventh grader Tarun (TJ) Deepak claimed the Spelling Bee championship by correctly spelling the winning word "fealty" at the Area 13 Spelling Bee on Friday, January 30, at Timber Creek High School.
Trinity Springs Middle School eighth grader Liam Shrestha finished in second place. The two went head-to-head for 21 rounds before Deepak was declared the winner. This is Deepak's second time to earn the area champion title.
Both students will advance to the Fort Worth Regional Spelling Bee this spring, where the regional champion will earn a spot at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. in May.
