Zahradnik was presented with the Keller ISD Star Educator Award at the May 15 Board Meeting. She was nominated by nominated by ISMS Librarian Angela Wilson, who shared the following:

"I am so impressed by Mrs. Z! She is an effective math teacher who delivers engaging and powerful instruction every day, even turning popular songs – from artists like Taylor Swift – into relevant math songs. She is an exceptional communicator with a keen eye for detail. More than any educator I’ve worked with, she consistently provides tutorials and support for her students. Her dedication is evident – she arrives early, stays late, and serves as a sponsor for our campus’s Students Standing Strong organization. Her positivity and enthusiasm are contagious, and it’s clear in everything she does that she genuinely loves her students and is deeply passionate about teaching."

Zahradnik will also receive a $500 grant, courtesy of the M.R. and Evelyn Hudson Foundation, to use in her classroom.

The Keller ISD Star Educator Award is a new district-wide teacher recognition, replacing the Innovative Teachers Inspiring Students (or, IT'S) Award, which, for over a decade, recognized some of KISD's most inspirational teachers for their efforts in actively engaging students through innovative learning techniques.

In continuing with the tradition of recognizing excellence, this new initiative will highlight amazing educators in this district who demonstrate exceptional teaching skills and positively impact their classrooms by:

  • Seeking active student engagement
  • Communicating with enthusiasm
  • Supporting individual growth
  • Offering innovative instructional techniques
  • Promoting a strong classroom community
  • Leading with heart

Check out this video to see how Ms. Zahradnik focuses on creating a supportive classroom culture where students feel valued, take risks, and build confidence in math through collaboration and encouragement.
