Fourth Graders Explore Texas History Through Discover Texas Field Trips

Fourth graders from campuses across the district attended Education in Action's Discover Texas Field Trips, visiting locations across the state for engaging, site-based learning experiences focused on Texas History.

Florence Elementary traveled to Fort Worth, where students visited the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, watched the Fort Worth Herd cattle drive, explored historic buildings, and learned about cowboy life and cattle drives. Students also toured the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame and Museum and the Cattle Raisers Museum to learn about pioneer life, famous cowboys and cowgirls, and Texas history.

Woodland Springs Elementary visited Austin to tour the Texas State Capitol and the Bullock Texas State History Museum. Students learned about the legislative process, explored the House and Senate chambers, the Texas Revolution, and discovered key moments in Texas history through interactive museum exhibits and the Texas Spirit Theater experience.

Park Glen Elementary traveled to Austin and Georgetown, where students visited the Texas State Capitol, explored exhibits at the Bullock Texas State History Museum, and discovered rock formations and geology at Inner Space Cavern.

Heritage Elementary visited Austin and Waco to tour the Texas State Capitol and the Dr Pepper Museum. In addition to learning about Texas government and history, students explored the history of the iconic Texas soft drink and created their own custom soda flavors during the popular “Make Your Own Soda” activity.

Shady Grove Elementary and Caprock Elementary both traveled to Austin and Georgetown separately to visit the Texas State Capitol and Inner Space Cavern. Students learned about Texas government and the lawmaking process before exploring underground cave formations, panning for gems and minerals, and participating in hands-on geology activities.
