Five Keller ISD Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

Five Keller ISD Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

Five Keller ISD seniors have earned recognition among the nation’s top high school students after being named Semifinalists in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.

These students are among more than 16,000 semifinalists nationwide, representing less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors. They were selected from more than 1.2 million students who entered the competition by taking the 2025 PSAT/NMSQT.

As semifinalists, they will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 6,700 National Merit Scholarships, worth about $24 million, that will be awarded next spring.

To be named a Finalist, students must complete a detailed scholarship application, which includes information about their academic record, participation in school and community activities, leadership experience, employment, honors and awards, and an essay. Students must also have an outstanding academic record, receive the endorsement and recommendation of a school official, and earn SAT® or ACT® scores that confirm their performance on the qualifying test.

Approximately 95% of Semifinalists are expected to advance to the Finalist level, with students notified of their status in February 2027.

Congratulations to Keller ISD’s National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalists:

Suhas Chinta, Keller Collegiate Academy
Caden Fletcher, Timber Creek High School
Emerson Heath-Fryar, Timber Creek High School
George Madison, Keller High School
Anya Saravanan, Timber Creek High School
