BPES, TMS Teams Win Annual Battle of the Books Competition

The annual Keller ISD Battle of the Books Competition brought more than 325 young readers to Fossil Ridge High School on Saturday, February 22, for a day of literary competition and teamwork.

A total of 45 elementary and 10 intermediate teams participated, with students showcasing their knowledge of selected books in a quiz-style format.

In the elementary division, The Best Kids on Earth from Bette Perot Elementary claimed first place, missing only one question throughout the competition. A tiebreaker determined the second-place winner, with The Wild All Stars from Shady Grove Elementary securing the runner-up spot.

The intermediate competition proved even more intense. Five teams tied for first place, leading to a tiebreaker round. After an additional set of open-ended questions, two teams remained deadlocked. Organizers ultimately declared both teams champions, Team Name 2.0 and The Candy Readers from Timberview Middle School.

The event was made possible by the support of more than 50 librarians, staff members, and administrators, who helped facilitate the competition and encourage a love of reading among students.
