Board Approves 2026-27 Instructional Calendar

Board Approves 2026-27 Instructional Calendar

Keller ISD’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved the District’s 2026-27 Instructional Calendar at its Regular Meeting on December 18, 2025.

The 2026-27 school year starts August 12, 2026, and ends May 26, 2027.

Keller ISD will begin the year on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, with a three-day first week of school to allow teachers and students time to build relationships and establish routines for the new year. There will be five extended weekends throughout the year:

  • September 5-7 (three-day weekend)
  • January 16-18 (three-day weekend)
  • February 12-15 (four-day student weekend; three-day employee weekend)
  • March 26-29 (four-day student weekend; three-day employee weekend)
  • April 23-25 (three-day weekend)

Fall Break will be held on October 12-16, 2026. Students will have a holiday, Friday, October 9, 2026, for a Parent-Teacher Conference Day, before the entire District closes October 12-16.

Students will have a holiday Tuesday, November 3, 2026, for Election Day. Tarrant County typically designates several Keller ISD schools as Election Day polling locations, and the District is required to comply. Making Election Day a Student Holiday alleviates security concerns or potential distractions that could potentially come with opening up portions of so many schools to the public throughout the day.

Thanksgiving Break will be held November 23-27, 2026. The first semester will conclude before the Winter Break, which will be held from December 21, 2026-January 6, 2027, for students. Employees will return from the Winter Break on Tuesday, January 5, for a Teacher Prep Day.

Spring Break will be held March 15-19, 2027. Students will have a holiday, Friday, March 12, 2027 before the entire District closes March 15-19.

The school year will end again before Memorial Day, concluding on Wednesday, May 26, 2027. High School Graduations will be held on Sunday, May 30, 2027, at Dickies Arena.

The calendar includes banked minutes for two instructional days that might be lost due to bad weather, as the state requires. In the event that inclement weather forces the closure of a school, those banked minutes will be used instead of making up the day.
