11 KISD Athletes Qualify for State Track and Field Meet

Keller ISD high school athletes turned in strong performances at the Class 5A and Class 6A Region 1 Track and Field meets on May 1-2, with multiple competitors qualifying for the UIL State Championships.

At the Region 1-5A meet, Fossil Ridge's athletes led the way with several top finishes. Caleb Woodard placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 46 feet, 10 inches to earn a state berth.

Jayden Kennedy qualified in two events, finishing second in the 100-meter dash in 10.29 seconds and second in the 200-meter dash in 20.08. Teammate Xavier Amos also posted a second-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 21.04.

At the Region 1-6A meet, Timber Creek’s relay teams delivered standout performances. The 4x200-meter relay team of Kiyana Hooks, Lashonda Reeves, Nia Walker, and Leila Johnson captured the regional title in 1:36.61. The 4x400-meter relay team of Hooks, Reeves, Johnson, and Naya Rasmussen placed second in 3:41 to advance.

Individually, Zahria Feist of Timber Creek finished second in the high jump at 5-8, while Reeves added a second-place finish in the 200 meters in 23.9. 

Central High’s Fletcher Draper earned a state berth with a second-place finish in the 800 meters in 1:51.4, while Keller High’s Anthony Abeyta qualified for state with a second-place finish in the 1,600 meters in 4:08.5.

Congratulations to all Keller ISD 2026 regional qualifiers for their outstanding performances throughout the season. Best of luck to our student-athletes as they prepare to compete at the UIL State Track and Field Championships, scheduled for May 14-16 at the University of Texas in Austin.
