The State of Texas's 89th Legislative Regular Session ran from January 14-June 2, 2025, and convened its first special session on July 21, 2025.

Keller ISD continues to pay close attention to activity in Austin and how it may impact the District and Texas public schools.

The Texas Constitution states that “a general diffusion of knowledge being essential to the preservation of the liberties and rights of the people, it shall be the duty of the Legislature of the State to establish and make suitable provision for the support and maintenance of an efficient system of public free schools.”

KISD's Board of Trustees approved a slate of legislative priorities for the 89th Legislature that were compiled by a committee of parents and employees:

Adequate Funding

Adopt Adaptable Student Assessment and Accountability

Centralize Oversight of School Library Books
