Parkview Elementary Rebuild

  • Rendering of the new PES entryway

    Status: Under Construction
    Project Budget: $33,309,461
    Scheduled Completion Date: Summer 2023

Parkview Elementary School was originally built in 1980. This Bond 2019 project calls for the complete replacement of the campus on the existing campus site. With a limited amount of space on the existing property, the District has partnered with the City of Fort Worth to allow the District to build a new campus without any interruption to the existing building. Only one of the two gymnasiums and a small classroom section of the existing school building had to be removed prior to the start of construction. After the completion of the new building, the old campus will be demolished.

    March 2022 Update:
The Parkview rebuilding project was bid in multiple phases. Due to unprecedented market conditions, the project team aggressively bid the site work, concrete, and steel portions of the project in January 2021 and requested the Board of Trustees approve that portion of the project cost at the January 25, 2021, Board of Trustees Regular Meeting. The remainder of the project was bid in February 2021 and was submitted to the Board for approval at the February 22, 2021, Regular Meeting. The contractor removed the first portion of the existing building in the summer of 2021, while students and staff were not occupying the campus. Temporary portable classrooms were provided for the 2021-22 school year to accommodate the space that was lost due to the demolition of the existing classroom areas. Once that work was completed, the contractor began building the structural foundation for the new building in the fall of 2021. The structural steel materials for the project began being delivered in October. The contractor has erected the main two-story classroom structure and the front administrative areas of the building. Those same areas are currently being roofed and enclosed. Interior classroom and hallway walls are also being built. The concrete masonry walls for the gymnasium and cafeteria spaces are currently being built. The new building code in the City of Fort Worth requires that the new building have a defined storm shelter space. The contractor is currently forming and pouring the walls for that space in the building.

The main building is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2022. Once the new building is constructed, the front section of the existing building will be completely stripped and redone to match the new building's structure. When all furniture, equipment, and materials have been moved over to the new building, the contractor will begin removing the existing building.
