How Does eLearning Work?

Our District-wide eLearning plan will run on a Sunday-to-Sunday basis and will continue week-by-week as long as KISD campuses are closed. This way, families will have time on Sunday evening to plan out their child’s learning time for the coming week, based on the needs of the family. It also gives students and families time to complete lessons during the following weekend, if that best meets the family’s needs.
Keller ISD teachers are using the internal KISD Connects eLearning Support platform to provide families with high-interest enrichment learning support that includes TEKS based lessons, engaging resources, and other instructional supports for all Pre-K through 12th-grade students.
Teachers will continue to communicate directly with families about ways we can stay connected and build on your child's strengths with enriching learning experiences at home.

Is eLearning required?
Keller ISD is committed to providing exceptinal educational opportunities for all students. During this time of uncertainty, although traditional grading will be on hold, the expectation is that all of our students continue to learn and grow.
In order to support ongoing growth and minimize learning gaps, we need families' help in making sure that learning continues at home. Your partnership with teachers will play a huge role in helping our students maintain a high level of academic success now and into the future. We will continue to find creative ways to meet the needs of all learners by supporting the partnership between home, school, and our community. What if we don't have technology at home?
KISD's Technology Department is working to support families during the District's closure. Due to the sheer volume of requests for devices, the District has closed any new online requests for Chromebooks at this time. If you have an urgent need, please contact your campus principal.

Will activities be graded?
KISD’s Curriculum & Instruction (C&I) Department has been working diligently to determine what grading will look like during the fourth nine-week grading period, due to the COVID-19 school closure. Information regarding the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year may be found on the COVID-19 Closure Grading Details page.

How will my child get help?
Teachers will provide support and feedback to students throughout the week in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to:
- Phone calls
- Email correspondence
- Zoom meetings (one-on-one, small group, whole class)
- Remind 101 text messages
- Chats via SeeSaw, Google Classroom, Google Hangout, etc.
Additional support for students in special programs will be provided, including English Language Learners, students receiving 504 or Special Education support, Dyslexic students, and GT students.

Will activities be included for Fine Arts and Physical Education?
Fine Arts
In addition to the lessons provided by your teachers, we would like to provide daily fine arts enrichment activities for your student, which may be found on the Keller ISD Fine Arts Twitter account: @KISDFineArts.P.E.
Our P.E. coaches have access to activities and resources to help your child stay active. Ask your classroom teacher if you need some fun ideas to do at home. Athletics' coaches will communicate with students directly. -
Is there support for my child's special needs?
Additional support for students in Special Programs will be provided, including English Language Learners, students receiving 504 or Special Education support, Dyslexic students, and GT students. Contact your child's teacher for more information and resources to support learning needs at home.
Special Education Services
In spite of the COVID-19 Pandemic, all requirements to provide free, appropriate public education for students will be attempted. Any deviation from a student’s individual education plan (IEP) due to the COVID-19 outbreak will be based on appropriate and reasonable models of service delivery. When school resumes, the ARD committee will determine if compensatory services are warranted.All special education service providers (OT, SLP, etc.) will provide support at the same frequency as stated in the student’s individual education plan (IEP), however, duration/schedule may differ.
