  • Credit by Examination WITHOUT Prior Instruction: Grades 1-5 Full Grade-Level Acceleration

    Credit by Exam assessments consist of one assessment for each year-long course. To accelerate out of a single grade level, a student must meet the following requirements:

    • A student must score 80% or above on a criterion-referenced test for the grade level to be skipped in each of the following areas: language arts, math, science, and social studies;
    • A student must be recommended for acceleration by a district representative;
    • A student’s parents or guardian must give written approval of the acceleration.

    A Campus Review Committee, to include the principal or designee, a counselor, and a parent must meet to determine appropriate accelerated course placement and/or instructional delivery model for the student.

    For those students who pass all content area exams, a “P” (Passed or Promoted) will be placed by the grade level in the student’s cumulative folder.

    Students may attempt to accelerate to the next grade one (1) time per year and only during designated assessment windows. Students that are successful in a full grade level acceleration will not be moved to the new grade level until the following school year.
