• FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT NDHS

    • Can I enroll directly into NDHS?
      • No. Students must consult with and receive an application from their high school counselor. 

    • Do I need a parking permit if I am a NDHS student?
      • All students who drive to school must purchase a parking permit from the front office. 

    • Is NDHS a fully accredited high school?
      • Yes. NDHS is a state public alternative high school that awards high school diplomas to students who have successfully completed all state requirements for graduation. 

    • Is this a GED program?
      • No. NDHS only awards high school diplomas to students who have successfully completed all state requirements for graduation. We are not and do not have a GED program.

    • Will I graduate with a regular high school diploma?
      • Yes. NDHS awards traditional high school diplomas to students who have successfully completed all state requirements for graduation. Depending on the student's graduation plan, the student may graduate with a Foundation with Endorsements diploma (26 credits)  or a Foundation diploma (22 credits).

    • Does the program have certified teachers?
      • Yes. All teachers are certified in the content that they teach. 

    • Are dual-credit courses offered?
      • No. At this time, we do not offer dual-credit courses.

    • Are AP courses offered?
      • If a student requests AP courses, our school counselor will work with the District administration to discuss options. AP course availability is not guaranteed.

    • Can I still participate in UIL?
      • No. We do not currently participate in UIL. 

    • Can I still walk at my home campus graduation?
      • Yes, with prior approval from the student's home campus principal. 

    • Does NDHS have a formal graduation ceremony?
      • Yes. Our graduation may look different from those at the comprehensive high schools, but we still have a formal graduation.

    • Is transportation to the school provided?
      • No.  


    • Can I take KCAL courses and attend NDHS?
      • Yes.
