    All students at the Keller Compass Center will receive individualized counseling supports that allow them the opportunity to learn and thrive in all areas of their lives and become healthy and happy adults who positively contribute to society.

     

    KCC Counseling Mission Statement

    The mission of the Keller Compass Center Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive school counseling program in an alternative school setting that adheres to both ASCA and Texas state standards for providing counseling services to all students in the areas of academic, personal/social, and career development. Through collaboration with our educational partners within and outside of the school, we are committed to providing evidenced-based services and supports that address the needs of the whole child by utilizing guidance curriculum, individual student planning, responsive services, and system supports that foster ongoing community engagement and personal success.

     

    KCC Counseling Belief Statement

     

    We the counselors at the Keller Compass Center believe:

    * All students have a right to access counseling services provided
      by the KCC Counseling Department.

    * Regardless of current circumstance, with the right supports, all
       students are capable of achieving success.

    * Mental and emotional health are key components of students'
       academic development and success.

    * All students have value and are deserving of respect without bias
       to cultural, academic, or personal differences.

    * Student development can only be achieved in collaboration with
       students, families, educators, and the community.

  • School Counselor

    ​​​Marissa Diaz
    Marissa

    Marissa Diaz is the certified Professional School Counselor
    who provides school counseling services to KCC students and
    families in the areas of academic, college and career, and 
    social-emotional development. Ms. Diaz has been an educator
    for 22 years; she spent 15 years in the classroom teaching
    English to students in grades 7-12 and has been a high school
    counselor for the past 7 years. Ms. Diaz is a Texas OnCourse
    Fellow Alum. She earned a Master’s of Education, Counseling
    and a Bachelor of English from the University of North Texas.
    Prior to attending UNT, Ms. Diaz earned an Associate of Arts
    degree from Tarrant County Junior College. She is proud to
    share her educational journey in hopes of encouraging lifelong
    learning and personal growth.

    Registrar / Data Specialist

    Jankhna Patel

    Jankhna Patel is the data specialist and registrar for KCC. In this
    capacity she manages student enrollment and PEIMS data. She
    resides in Keller with her wonderful family. Her favorite pastimes
    are spending time with friends and family, exercising, and
    watching movies.
