Trends in Performance Measures
Competency in basic skills such as reading, writing, and mathematics as measured by performance on standardized achievement tests are some of the tools used to measure the quality of education provided in the district. The primary assessment instrument in Texas is currently the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). The former standardized test was the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS). The state standardized tests provide the basis of the Texas Accountability System.

Ratings are released annually in August and reflect the performance of students from the prior school year
Accountability ratings for 2010-11 will remain the same for 2011-12 due to the implementation of the new standardized test.
Beginning 2011-12, the Texas Accountability System will be based on the new, more rigorous assessment, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR).
