A combined intermediate-middle school campus will open in August 2010, the result of the community's support for the 2008 Bond Package.

Needing to provide additional classroom space for half of the traditional intermediate school capacity and half of the traditional middle school capacity, Keller ISD administration recommended putting both campuses at a single site as a fiscally responsible solution. With the community's support, the district has taken the opportunity to build it's first ever campus that brings 5th through 8th grade students together making it unique among other KISD schools.
Defining the parameters of our IS/MS Campus
Today’s students come to our schools with learning needs and preferences significantly different than the experiences provided in traditional school environments. Classrooms, campuses and districts have implemented numerous programs and practices to address these changing student dynamics. Project based programs and one to one technology integration are two of many approaches attempted, many being geared to the high school level. In most instances, including younger students, the deployment of laptop computers to students or the inclusion of mobile technology carts for classroom use have been attempted. Pilot projects, much like the current project at TMI, have begun to incorporate other technologies into the instructional process. The ultimate challenge remains: the effective use of familiar and accessible technology to transform the teaching-learning process.
Planning Sessions
On February 19th, a group of administrators from various departments began discussions on the design of a new facility. The vision that was discussed was to transform the traditional teaching-learning process, utilizing familiar and accessible technology. One of the goals for this process is to design a facility to address the structural issues necessary to support new instructional processes and new technologies. A series of meetings have been conducted over the last month including participation from students, teachers, parents, and administrators to get various perspectives on the development of the design for this facility.
