The inaugural Young Adult Keller Book Festival, organized by the secondary librarians of Keller ISD, will bring national and local authors to Keller, Texas on January 14, 2012.
The festival is free and open to the public. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Keller High School, 601 N. Pate Orr Road in Keller.
Young Adult Keller Book Festival (YAK Fest) will feature authors, poets, and storytellers popular with young people. Teens can meet and hear from award-winning national authors including Ellen Hopkins, learn poetry-writing tips from performance poet Colin Gilbert, and experience Native American ghost tales with Tim Tingle. Keller’s own debut author Samantha Cook will participate, along with other Texas authors.
Festival-goers will be able to purchase books on-site from The Book Carriage of Roanoke for the afternoon autograph session. Food vendors will be on hand for breakfast, lunch, and snacks, and there will be musical entertainment during breaks.
YAK Fest 2012 is made possible by a Keller-Hudson Innovation Grant funded by the M.R. and Evelyn Hudson Foundation.
