Keller ISD residents that travel through the intersection of Keller Hicks Road and Alta Vista Road are being advised to adjust their travel schedules to allow for traffic anticipated as part of the North Beach Street extension project.
Work on the extension for North Beach Street north of Golden Triangle Boulevard has been dealyed and is expected to begin in late March or early April. The project is now anticipated to be completed prior to start of the 2012-13 school year.
The City of Fort Worth has committed that traffic will not be completely shut off during the project, but left turn lanes will not be provided, which may lead to significantly slowed traffic patterns. Special provisions will be made by the contractor to maintain safe, secure sidewalks through the intersection while the work is in progress.
Keller ISD will be working with the city and the construction contractor, and will continue to make information available detailing walk paths and crosswalks around the intersection for our student walking and bike-riding traffic.
