Power Outage

1:55 p.m. 2/21/12

Fossil Hill Middle School will implement a delayed start time of 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22.

As of late Tuesday morning FHMS had limited power and all computers and phones were down. After assessing the situation, Oncor Electric has determined that it will have to replace power lines running to the campus. As a result of this work, classes will not begin until 10 a.m. on Wednesday to assure that everything on the campus is operating properly and a safe, secure learning environment has been established for FHMS students.

All after-school activities for Tuesday, February 21 and all before-school activities for Wednesday, February 22 have been canceled.

Cheerleading tryouts that were scheduled for Tuesday evening, February 21 have been postponed to the following dates:

  • 4-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28
  • 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29
  • 4-6 p.m. Thursday, March 1

Buses will run one hour and 40 minutes later than normal Wednesday morning. Breakfast will not be served Wednesday, and the cafeteria will only be able to provide sack lunches.

There is still no change to Tuesday's schedule or dismissal times.

11:15 a.m. 2/21/12

Fossil Hill Middle School is experiencing a partial power outage.

As of late Tuesday morning FHMS has limited power and all computers and phones are down. The power company is assessing the situation, but currently does not know the cause of the outage nor how long it will take to restore the power.

There has been no disruption to the classrooms or the regular lunch schedule. The majority of the classrooms have power or at least enough natural light to conduct class as usual. There will be no changes to dismissal. The campus will follow its normal schedule. We will keep you posted on the situation.
