Parkwood Hill Student Wins N. Texas Regional Spelling Bee

Parkwood Hill Intermediate 6th grader Ansun Sujoe won the North Texas Regional Spelling Bee on Wednesday, March 20.

Ansun correctly spelled "eschewal" – which means shunning or avoidance – to win the championship.

Second place went to Ben Benjadol of Wilshire Elementary in Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD.

Ansun now moves on to the 2013 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., May 28-39.

At the Area Bee on February 6, Ansun competed against students from Keller ISD and Northwest ISD, battling through 20 rounds - with the last seven against Hillwood Middle School student Adel Hassan - to claim the Area Championship.

Ansun was also crowned the Area winner as a Lone Star Elementary 4th grader in 2011!
