KISD Hires Chelsea Allison as New Middle School Principal

Keller ISD’s Board of Trustees approved Thursday, April 13, at its Regular Monthly Meeting the hiring of Chelsea Allison as the inaugural principal of Vista Ridge Middle School (VRMS), set to open in August 2017.

Allison comes to Keller ISD from Arlington ISD, where she has served as the principal at Swift Elementary since 2013. Prior to her service in Arlington ISD, Allison served in Fort Worth ISD as a Dean of Instruction and Assistant Principal at Kirkpatrick Middle School, and a teacher at both the elementary and secondary levels. Layered with her successful experience in public education, Allison also served as Art Director at Texas Wesleyan from 2001-2002.

Allison obtained her Master of Education from Tarleton State University, Master of Arts from University of North Texas, and Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Austin. She also has a Doctor of Philosophy in progress at the University of North Texas.

“During her leadership at Swift Elementary, the campus has received academic recognition, built creative learning environments such as MakerSpace, doubled UIL offerings and built opportunities for students to serve as leaders,” said Tommie Johnson, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. “In addition to her student-centered leadership, Ms. Allison has focused on efforts to increase employee recognition.”

The VRMS campus – which is located off of an extension of Thompson Road, west of North Riverside Drive – will initially house fifth and sixth graders for the 2017-18 school year, later growing to a fifth through eighth grade campus.

Current sixth-graders attending Basswood Elementary and Sunset Valley Elementary – the two campuses that will feed into the new middle school – will attend Fossil Hill Middle School for seventh and eighth grade. Current fourth and fifth-graders at BWES and SVES will attend the new middle school as fifth and sixth-graders in 2017-18.

Allison will join the Keller ISD team in the summer of 2017 to prepare the new campus for its opening in August.

"Keller ISD has the opportunity to offer some exciting programming for students at Vista Ridge Middle School, and Ms. Allison possesses the experience, talent, and passion to lead that charge,” Johnson said.
