KHS Art Students Win Grand Champion and 1st Place for FWST Stock Show Art Contest

Keller High School art students, Sarah Barnett and Tracey Wright Taylor, won Grand Champion and 1st Place Drawing respectively in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Stock Show Art Contest. 

The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo partnered with the Fort Worth Star Telegram to showcase local student artist in their annual art competition. Sarah and Tracy were two of seven finalist who were honored at an awards reception on January 28.

After competing with over 1000 entries from across the state, Sarah and Tracey came out on top, with Sarah being awarded a $3000 scholarship, and Tracey honored with a $2000 scholarship. Their artwork will be displayed during the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo through February 4 and then will be exhibited at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame in Ft. Worth.

A panel of local art professionals judged the competition, which was open to all students ages 5-19 enrolled in a Texas public, private or accredited home schools. Keller High School student, Lori Welch, won Grand Champion artist several years ago. Sarah and Tracey are taught by Keller High art teacher, Liz Bonham.
