Katie Keyes, Keller High School Student Council Advisor, has been named the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) 2011 Warren E. Shull Advisor of the Year Nominee.
Keyes is the 2011 TASC High School Advisor of the Year and serves on the TASC Board of Directors as advisor of the currently elected secretary school. She is also a TASC Leadership Consultant and has been named a Keller High School Teacher of the Year.
Jeff Bradley, Principal of Keller High School, said, “As the leader of our student council, Ms. Keyes has proven her worth for this award. Over the past 14 years, Katie has been leading the KHS Student Council and continues to grow the program while offering amazing opportunities for students.
The current TASC secretary student, Conor Patterson praised Keyes saying, “Ms. Keyes is a teacher, a nurturer, a listener, a friend, and above all, my Student Council advisor.”
The National Association of Student Councils (NASC) authorized a NASC High School Adviser of the Year Award in honor of Warren E. Shull, who founded NASC in 1931. He recognized that leadership is service. While the award does single out individuals on the state, regional, and national level, the purpose of the award is to highlight the many contributions made by student councils advisers across the country.
