Keller ISD's Board of Trustees approved attendance zone changes for the 2011-12 school year at its regular meeting Thursday evening, January 13, 2011.
Adjustments were made to the district’s campus attendance zones to accommodate for the opening of KISD’s 22nd elementary campus in August 2011 and to balance enrollment at other neighboring campuses.

District administration presented the plan last fall and held five public forums on the topic over two days on November 30 and December 2, 2010. Administrators also set up an email account to allow concerned residents to submit their feedback on the proposed changes.
To account for the opening of the new elementary campus – located in the Marshall Ridge sub-development – some neighborhoods that previously attended Florence Elementary, Woodland Springs Elementary and Keller-Harvel Elementary were relocated to attend the new school. Other changes caused by the opening of the new campus:
- Portions of Independence Elementary will now attend Woodland Springs Elementary
- Portions of Florence Elementary will now attend Keller-Harvel Elementary
- Portions of Hidden Lakes Elementary will now attend Florence Elementary
- Impact of the attendance zone changes also includes transitioning the Marshall Ridge communities to the Bear Creek Intermediate, Keller Middle School, and Keller High School feeder pattern
The Board approved the proposal 6-1, asking that the administration allow transfers for those students in Harvest Ridge who would have already been moved once as elementary students by a previous boundary realignment from Woodland Springs to Independence.
Elsewhere in the district, other changes include:
- Portions of Freedom Elementary to Willis Lane Elementary
- Portions of Friendship Elementary to Park Glen Elementary
- Portions of Lone Star Elementary to Friendship Elementary
- Portions of Eagle Ridge Elementary to Freedom Elementary. Area would also transition attendance zone to Trinity Meadows Intermediate and Trinity Springs Middle School.
- Impact of the attendance zone changes also includes transitioning the Flanigan Hill community to the South Keller Intermediate, Indian Springs Middle School, and Keller High School feeder pattern
