Special Education Program Efficiencies

Special education cuts have been mentioned as possible reductions to Keller ISD’s budget. How are decisions regarding special education staffing made?

Special education is a dynamic process based upon student needs. Each year, in order to maintain program efficiency, it is necessary to reevaluate programming district-wide, including staff to student ratios.

As student demographics change, it becomes necessary to make program adjustments. When students transition between campuses and settings, it is necessary for resources to be allocated to meet student needs. Each year, program effectiveness and efficiencies are analyzed.

Changes resulting from program efficiencies do not negatively impact IDEA implementation or the provision of services to students.
