Why does Keller ISD not consider grouping gifted and talented (GT) children together and alleviate the need for special classrooms or GT specialists to be spread across campuses and grade levels?
The Keller ISD gifted and talented program ensures that gifted/talented students have opportunities to work together as a group, to work with other students, and to work independently during the school day.
We currently serve our K-6 GT students in GT-certified teacher classroom cluster groups and provide pull-out or push-in services for K-6 students.
For the 2010-11 school year, the K-6 GT specialists will not be pulled for on-going identification. Testing for identification will take place during two windows -- one during the first semester, and one at the end of the second semester.
Students at the secondary level are served through Pre-AP and AP core content courses by GT certified teachers.
