Looking at the Tier 2 budget reduction recommendations, it appears as though elementary art teachers will be required to teach music, and elementary music teachers will be required to teach art. Would it not make more sense for campuses to share teachers so that students have art one semester and music the next?
The intent of the Tier 2 budget reduction option mentioned is to reduce the elementary art and music teachers by half of what we currently have employed.
In fact, each remaining art teacher would cover two campuses, one per semester.
Elementary students would receive one semester of art and one semester of music. This change will significantly reduce the amount of in-depth instruction available to students in these subjects, reduce co-curricular time, and affect current elementary campuses and common planning time for teachers at the elementary campuses.
