Changing of Keller High's Blue

Why did Keller High School change their colors from Royal Blue to Navy Blue?

About 7 years ago, there was a shift in thinking around Keller High regarding which shade of blue should be used to represent the school.

Over the years, that shift permeated some aspects of the school, but not all, so there was a division and inconsistency in the shade of blue being used at KHS.

When the current principal, Mr. Rick Westfall, joined the school in 2008, he spent some time looking into this issue, and interviewed various people about the history of the shade of blue at KHS. He discovered that over the years, the school had shifted back and forth between a royal blue and a navy blue. Campus administration decided the campus needed to be unified in their use of a single shade of blue, and set about making decisions on which shade that would be.

Part of that decision involved deciding on what the secondary color would be. Every other KISD high school uses a secondary color "Vegas" gold. In order to represent a unified theme across all of Keller ISD's high schools, the decision was made that KHS would also utilize Vegas gold as their secondary color.

With that decision in place, campus leadership noticed that royal blue did not make for an attractive compliment to this shade of gold. However, the navy blue matched the Vegas gold much better, and thus it was selected as the official shade of blue for the campus.

Keller High School now has a unified color scheme and recently unveiled a new logo to help bring the KHS community together.
